Mission

Millions of people live with obesity — and with the chronic inflammation it causes. That inflammation doesn't just linger in fat tissue; it spreads to the heart, blood vessels, and beyond, driving cardiovascular disease, diabetes, cancer and other serious conditions. In the Weinstock Lab, we study the immune system as both a culprit and a healer. We want to understand how weight loss calms inflammation, why losing and regaining weight (weight cycling) can make things worse than staying obese, and what happens to the immune system when powerful new weight loss drugs (GLP-1 receptor agonists) are stopped.
Our tools are immunology, mouse genetics, single-cell genomics, and cellular/molecular metabolism. Our north star is the patient — the millions who cycle through weight loss and regain, who stop medications they can't afford or tolerate, and who deserve treatments built on a real understanding of their biology.
